Why I’m All In with the NSRA (and Always Will Be)
People ask me from time to time—or maybe they just wonder quietly—
“Why is he such a big supporter of the NSRA and their Safety Program?”
Well, here’s the answer.
Why I Chose the National Street Rod Association
I’ve been a member of the NSRA since 2008. That’s not the longest by any means—some of my friends have been in since the early '70s—but it’s long enough to know this is where I belong.
There are several national organizations out there, but this is the one that felt right from the start. The people, the mission, the events—it all fits. I’ve built connections, found support, and had the chance to enjoy some of the best car events in the country.
And most importantly, I get to support car culture both locally and nationally.

Why I’m a Member (And Why I Stick With It)
I joined without knowing much about what the NSRA really did. But since then, I’ve gotten involved, started volunteering, and made friends I now consider family. We may live in different states and only see each other a few times a year, but when we do—it’s like no time passed at all.
And that’s one of the best things about the NSRA:
It’s not just about the cars. It’s about the people.
The organization does a great job putting on events that bring us all together, year after year.
Where NSRA Shows Up
Here’s just a few of the major NSRA events across the country:
- Western Nationals – Bakersfield, CA
- Mid-America Nationals – Springfield, MO
- Street Rod Nationals East – York, PA
- Mobile Bay Nationals – Mobile, AL
- Rocky Mountain Nationals – Pueblo, CO
- Quad Cities Nationals – Davenport, IA
- Northeast Nationals – Burlington, VT
- Street Rod Nationals North – Kalamazoo, MI
- The Big One: Street Rod Nationals – Louisville, KY (~10,000 cars!)
- Coming in 2026: Street Rod Nationals South – Johnson City, TN

Why I Support the NSRA Safety Program
In 2012, I started volunteering with the NSRA Safety Program, just to see what it was all about.
Fast forward over a decade, and I now serve as the:
- South Central Division Safety Chief
- Former Arkansas State Inspector
- Longtime volunteer inspector at events across the region
So what does the Safety Team actually do?
We perform free, voluntary vehicle safety inspections at NSRA events. It’s not about rules or certifications—it’s just about adding a second set of eyes to make sure everything looks safe and solid.
We check basics like:
- Lights and turn signals
- Horn, wipers, fuel lines
- Brakes, exhaust, and more
It’s a small thing that makes a big difference—and it’s offered completely free to participants.

Why It Matters
I never imagined I’d end up helping lead the Safety Program for a whole division, but here I am—and I wouldn’t trade the experience for anything. Being part of this program has brought me some of the best connections and memories I’ve made in this hobby.
I’m proud of the work we do. Proud of the people I do it with. And proud of what NSRA stands for.
Final Thoughts
So there you go—that’s why I’m a member of the NSRA and why I back the Safety Program 100%.
If you ever want to know more about getting involved, how inspections work, or just want to talk shop—come find me at a show or shoot me a message. I’d love to help you be part of it, too.
Until next time,
Stay safe, and keep Kruzn!
