Big Purple Hot Rod Cruise

The weekend kicked off Friday night with the July edition of The Big Purple Hot Rod Cruise at Hendrix Village in Conway, AR. You might remember we were there last month too — this has become one of our regular monthly hangs when it’s on the calendar.

It’s the kind of laid-back cruise night we love: chill atmosphere, cool cars on the square, and a nightcap of food and a milkshake from The Purple Cow. Hard to beat that combo.

Cleburne County Cruisers – Poker Run-Cruise

Saturday started early — 6:30 AM on the road, heading toward Heber Springs, AR, for a full-day Poker Run hosted by the Cleburne County Cruisers. It's been a long time since I’ve done a run like this, so I was looking forward to it.

The route was a scenic one. From Heber Springs, we rolled north on Hwy 25 to Jerry's Place in Drasco to draw our second card. After hanging there for a bit, we continued north again before cutting south on Hwy 87 toward Tadpole’s Catfish Barn in Pleasant Plains. We got there early so we could capture video of the cars rolling in — check out the StillKruzn Arkansas Facebook page and YouTube for those clips.

We also grabbed some footage of the group pulling out and heading toward our fourth stop at the Batesville Speedway. From there, it was a smooth westbound cruise on Hwy 14 into Mountain View for lunch at the Wing Shack.

After lunch, it was time for the final card draw to complete our poker hands. I ended up with two pair — not quite enough to take home the win, but probably the best hand I’ve ever had at one of these runs.

Once everything wrapped up, we pointed the cars home for the 80-mile return leg.

Despite the heat index topping 105°, it was a great day. Honestly, I’d rather be rolling through the Ozarks than baking on a blacktop parking lot. Anytime I can put a couple hundred miles behind the wheel, that’s a win in my book.

Till the next one — Keep Kruzn!
