Another Great Week on the Road!
It’s been a fantastic week of traveling for a car show! This time we headed north to Kalamazoo, MI, for the NSRA Street Rod Nationals North — with a quick stop in Ohio to visit family along the way.
Day One & Two – Hitting the Road
Day one was all about covering miles. We rolled out of the driveway at 4:40 AM, determined to get most of the driving done before dark — mission accomplished. By the time the sun set, we’d knocked out 800 miles and crossed Arkansas, Missouri, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Ohio in about 13 hours.
Day two was a welcome pause, spent just hanging out and catching up with my parents in Ohio.
Day Three – Into Michigan
We were back on the road at 9 AM for the short 3½-hour hop to Kalamazoo. Honestly, I didn’t need the “Welcome to Michigan” sign to know we’d crossed the line — those rough roads gave it away fast!
Once we landed, we checked into the hotel, hit registration to get the truck credentials, grabbed dinner, and caught up with friends.
Day Four – Kicking Off the Event
Friday started the way it always does at an NSRA event: up early, breakfast, and off to the fairgrounds. I had my usual NSRA meeting first thing to go over weekend details and pick our categories — this time, I got to judge the Truck picks.
From 9 AM to noon we worked the safety inspection area, talking shop with inspectors from around the country and meeting some great vehicle owners. After that, we parked, roamed the grounds with the camera, and wrapped the evening with dinner back in town.

Day Five – More Hot Rod Fun
Saturday meant another early breakfast with friends, then back to the fairgrounds for a full day of cars, cameras, and good company. No safety duty this time — just hanging out with family and shooting more photos and video. We left a little early to head back toward Ohio for a couple of days.

Day Six & Seven – Family Time
These were easygoing days. We met my brother and his crew for lunch at Texas Roadhouse, then capped it off with ice cream at Jeni’s in Dublin, OH. Sometimes the best part of a trip is slowing down with family.
Day Eight – Home Sweet Home
The final leg was another 800 miles, and as much as I love the road, nothing beats climbing into my own bed at the end of a run.
This trip added 2,000+ miles to the C10 — we haven’t let much grass grow under those tires this year! While this was our last long haul for the season, we’ve got plenty of local car shows on deck. Stay tuned, and as always… Keep Kruzn!
