Revs & Rhythm

Fall has finally made it to Arkansas — but let’s wait and see how long it hangs around.

Leaving the house this morning was great. The air was cool and crisp, the sun was shining, and it made for a great day to cruise up I-40 to Dardanelle for the Revs & Rhythm Car Show, benefiting the Dardanelle High School Band.

This was the first year for Revs & Rhythm, and they had more than 80 vehicles registered at Merritt Park. I’ve been to several other car shows at this park over the past few years, and it really is a great venue for a car show.

As I rolled into the park, there were already quite a few cars parked, with people getting them cleaned up and ready for the day. Looking around at the variety of vehicles, I could tell it was going to be a good show.

After taking it all in on the way to my spot, it was time to get the C10 settled in for the day. I cleaned it up a bit, got registered, and then just hung out for a while before making my rounds. I got to talk to quite a few people who stopped to ask about the ole C10. It got its fair share of attention today, which is always fun.

Making the rounds and shooting photos and video for today’s coverage was a lot more enjoyable than it has been at the last few car shows. The cooler weather made a huge difference, and for once I wasn’t looking for the nearest patch of shade every few minutes.

Once I had most of the photos and video taken care of, I figured it was time to find something to eat. The DJ had been talking about the brisket sandwiches they were selling at the food vendor, so I decided I better see what all the talk was about.

I’m just gonna say — it was good! And if you weren’t there, you missed out.

After getting a bite to eat, hanging out a little while longer, and talking to a few more people who stopped to ask about the C10, I decided it was time to point it toward the house.

Since I had taken I-40 on the way there, I decided to change things up for the ride home and take Highway 64. That meant going through the small towns, taking the two-lane roads, and enjoying a little slower pace all the way back home.

And honestly, I think that was the part of the day I enjoyed the most. Two-lane roads, music playing, the C10 rolling along, and nothing to do but enjoy the drive and the scenery.

It doesn’t get much better than that!
