Have you ever heard that slightly annoying voice in your GPS say “Recalculating” or “Rerouting” when you take a turn it didn’t approve of?

Yeah… me too.
And most of the time, I did it on purpose.

Even when I know exactly where I’m going, I still use GPS. Not because I’m lost, but because I like knowing how far it is to the next turn or what my ETA looks like. It’s useful—just not always in charge.

Turns out, I’ve got one of those systems in my life too. An internal GPS. That little voice that lets me know when I’m drifting off the right route.

Now, I don’t always listen to the voice coming from the box on my dash. But I try to listen to that internal one. The one that nudges me when something feels off. The one that reminds me to slow down, rethink, or turn around altogether. And most days, that means trusting the One I follow a little more than my own instincts.

I’ve been told—and it’s probably accurate—that I have some control issues. So trusting that little box on the dash? Not always happening. Funny thing is, I do trust the One I follow… I just don’t always follow like I should, even when I know it’s the right direction.

Still, I’m getting better at it every day. Progress beats perfection.

These little writings—these moments from the shop stool—are my way of slowing down and paying attention. My hope is that if sharing them helps even one person, then the effort is worth it. I may not always share the full backstory, but trust me, they come straight from the heart—and are usually inspired by something I did right… or more often, something I did wrong.

Either way, I’m learning.
