Any weekend spent around cool cars and great people is a win in my book!

This past weekend was no exception—it kicked off Friday night at The Big Purple Hot Rod Cruise and rolled right into Saturday’s Summerfest Car Show in Rosebud, AR.

The Big Purple Hot Rod Cruise – Conway, AR

This event holds a special place in my heart. I started it years ago, and while I’ve since stepped away from hosting, I’m proud to see it still going strong. The new organizers and sponsors are doing a fantastic job keeping the tradition alive.

Due to weather cancellations last month, this was the first cruise of the 2025 season—and it didn’t disappoint. Held in the square at Hendrix Village, it’s an ideal location for a cruise night. You’ll find everything from vintage classics to modern rides, all parked up with folks gathered around just enjoying the evening.

One thing I’ve always loved about this event is its laid-back vibe. People aren’t rushing around—they’re chatting, laughing, and making connections. That’s what makes this hobby so special. These vehicles may be “just cars” to some, but to us, they’re a way to build lifelong friendships.

And yes—The Purple Cow is right there, serving up those legendary milkshakes. If you haven’t made it out to this one yet, mark your calendar: 3rd Friday of each month at Hendrix Village.

Summerfest Car Show – Rosebud, AR

This small-town show is about 45 minutes from home, and I’ve been once before. The drive up the backroads is peaceful, especially when you’ve got a couple of buddies in old rides cruising behind you. Glancing in the mirror and seeing a convoy of classics—now that’s a sight.

This year’s show brought in close to 60 registered cars, with a strong showing of classics. The festival has grown quite a bit since my last visit, and the car show area moved just across the fence to the outfield of the ball field. Not far, but definitely a sign that the event is expanding.

If you haven’t been, it’s a good one to add to your list. Pro tip: get there early and swing by Grumpy’s for breakfast—you won’t regret it.

Weekend Wrap-Up

This was the hottest weekend we’ve had this year, with heat index temps hitting around 105°F. But thanks to a steady breeze, it stayed bearable. Even with the heat, I wouldn’t trade this life—the cars, the events, the road trips, and especially the friends I’ve made along the way.

That’s what it’s all about.

See y’all out there next weekend—stay safe and keep Kruzn!
