Introduction

When I’m walking through a car show, there’s always something that catches my eye — and when it does, I make a straight line for it. These are the vehicles I just love to look at, even if some people think I’m a little weird for liking them.

I’ve been to hundreds of shows, and while I have a soft spot for hot rods from the ’30s and ’40s, there are a few types of vehicles I always stop to check out — even if they’re a little outside my usual taste.

1. DMC DeLorean

I’m not sure why, but there’s a part of me that would love to own one of these. You know the car — the one from Back to the Future. But honestly, it's not about the movie. I thought they were cool before that.

Sure, they weren’t the best-built cars, and the engines left a lot to be desired. But I know how to take care of some of that. I just think it’d be cool to own one and cruise around in it. It’s different — and sometimes different is what makes something great.

2. AMC Javelin AMX

This one probably makes the list because I used to own a Javelin. Mine wasn’t an AMX, but they’re both great cars. I’ve always felt like the Javelin didn’t get the recognition it deserved as a muscle car.

Maybe it was the AMC badge. Maybe it was just different than the typical Camaro/Mustang crowd. But I’ve always thought they had great lines, and I still stop and check one out any time I see it.

3. Big Rigs

I love big rigs — just about any kind. But my favorite? The Peterbilt 359. These are the trucks I grew up around and drove before I was even old enough to drive (but that’s a story for another day).

It doesn’t have to be a Pete, though. I like the old ‘40s COE trucks, Kenworths, and just about anything with a big front grille and some road wear. There's something about a well-kept rig that just demands a second look.

Wrap-Up

I’ve gotta admit — it’s fun to stop and admire vehicles you wouldn’t normally be into. And when you find something that not everyone’s talking about, it somehow makes the day even better.

So let’s hear it — what’s your “guilty pleasure” vehicle?
