Cars, Friends, & Connections

I make a lot of car show trips up around the Heber Springs, Arkansas area, among plenty of other places. But this was the first time we had made it to the Connection Church Car Show in Heber Springs. I’ve seen the flyer for this one many times over the years, but we had just never made the trip.

I always like to attend several car shows each year that I haven’t been to before. For one thing, it gets me out there to see cars—and more importantly, meet people—that I haven’t seen before.

In fact, I got to meet a couple of new people at this one. One of them even stopped me and asked if I was “that StillKruzn guy.”

I always like that!

As always, there was a good mix of cars at this show. I think there were even a few that I hadn’t seen before—which is another thing I always like about going somewhere new.

They even had a VW Corral set aside just for those little air-cooled cars! And there were plenty of them to fill it up.

You can pretty much count on seeing a good mix of trucks at any car show, and this one was no different. From nicely restored classics to customized pickups, there were plenty scattered throughout the show field that caught my attention.

Of course, I may be a little partial to an old truck!

I guess you could also say this show was a little different from most of the ones I attend. First off was the music. They were playing Christian music, which is mostly what I listen to anyway, so I certainly didn’t mind that!

There was also something a little different during the awards presentation. They started with the door prizes, and then the pastor of Connection Church shared a short devotion before they handed out the car show awards. They wrapped everything up by announcing the silent auction winners.

I thought it was great that the pastor took a few minutes to share a little bit of the Word with everyone. That’s not something you see very often at a local car show. Some of the larger shows I attend will have a small service on Sunday morning, but it’s pretty rare at a one-day local show.

And you never know who might be standing in that crowd and need to hear exactly what was being shared that day.

Just one more thing I liked about this car show!

All in all, it was a great day to be out in the C10, traveling some Arkansas backroads and spending the day at a car show with friends.

Good cars, good friends, a few new faces, and some backroads along the way. It’s pretty hard to beat a day like that!
