Memorial Day weekend is my start for National Street Rod Association events for me. As some of you may know, I serve as the South Central Division Safety Chief and I work the safety lanes at several NSRA events each year. The event is held in Springfield, MO on Memorial Day weekend each year.
I didn't get to take as many pictures and video as I would have liked to take this year as I worked the safety lanes all weekend. But I did get some. Let's start with the hotel parking lot on Thursday afternoon. There are always some nice vehicles at the hotel that I stay at. Some of them I see there every year.

I did get a chance to take a long walk on the grounds on Friday and got a few pictures. BTW... it was a long walk from the safety lanes up to the main building!

As you can see, there is a wide variety of cars and trucks attending these events. NSRA is open to any vehicle 30 years or older. They give a way some very nice door prizes through-out the weekend. There are also some different activities available. At this event, they had kids games, pin-up contest, auto cross, and the Streets of Rods.
On Sunday morning the award winners are gathered in the Winners Circle to be displayed before the awards program. This includes the Rep/Safety picks, Pros Pick, Outstanding Use of Color, and many others.

One of the winners not shown above is the Safety Pick. Since I had the privilege of running the safety lanes this weekend, I also got to pick the Safety Pick. This car just caught my eye as he rolled through the safety lanes and passed the NSRA Safety 23 inspection. This 1935 Ford Tudor owned by Scott Melheim from James, MN was the recipient of this award. It is a beautiful car and yes, he did drive it from Minnesota.

Although we had quite a bit of rain and some storms it was a great weekend hanging out with some really good friends and seeing other friends that I don't get to see very often from around the country. If you have never attended a NSRA event, I highly recommend you give it a try. If you have any questions about these events or NSRA in general, don't hesitate to ask me.
